Welcome to San Marino
Small, upscale, and predominantly residential, exclusive San Marino is the San Gabriel Valley’s most well-to-do locale—and its most beautiful, too. Historic English- and Spanish-style homes line the leafy streets, and San Marino founder Henry Huntington’s former estate is the neighborhood’s signature property: The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens, a famed art museum, library and stunning public garden. The Huntington is one of L.A.’s most impressive botanical garden, but it’s hardly the only green space. Also within the city limits is the lovely 30-acre Lacy Park, ringed by some of the neighborhood’s most handsome homes—all of which command multi-million dollar price tags. The main thoroughfare, Huntington Drive, has a smattering of good cafes and restaurants, and the area schools are excellent. Just note that there are no apartments here—San Marino is limited to single-family residences only—most of which rarely list for less than $1 million, and range into the multi-millions.
